Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where Should I stay if i am from out of town?

MANHATTAN HOTELS
The most convenient accommodations will be hotels in Manhattan. To find hotel reviews and best price options, we recommend using websites like hotels.com, expedia.com, Hotwire.com, etc. to book your stay.

AIRPORT AREA HOTELS
Hotels near the main airports will be significantly less expensive than those in Manhattan (~$140 per night). Hotels near either John F. Kennedy airport or La Guardia airport have easy access to Manhattan through the subway. Travel to and from Manhattan should only take 30 - 45 minutes by public transportation.

OTHER WEBSITES
Alternative accommodations through either airbnb.com or vrbo.com provide inexpensive options. For even more affordable alternatives, locations in Brooklyn are often close to the subway with easy access to and from Manhattan. Our programming will not run late into the evening, so traveling at night should not be a concern for those options outside of Manhattan.

Q: where can i get Travel Grants?

Unfortunately Scientista is currently unable to offer travel grants. For alternative funding sources we recommend asking your lab, university department, or student organization governing body if they offer conference travel stipends. Many universities have offered sponsorship for Scientista events in the past. If you need help crafting an email to your school, please contact us at campus@scientistafoundation.com.

Q: What does my registration include?

Student registrations include:

1. Access to the programming

2. Food and beverages during the programming (breakfast and lunch)

3. Access to the workshops

4. Access to the poster fair

5. Access to the career and recruiting fair

Q: What is your refund policy? Can I register at the door?

Scientista is unable to offer refunds or exchanges for tickets. Because of security purposes at the Microsoft building, tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance of the conference date. Your name on the ticket must match your id at the door.

Q: Can I purchase a One Day Ticket?

No, you can not. Tickets are for for the entire weekend only. No partial refunds will be offered if you are only able to attend one day.
